Message	That was taken into consideration -- this is a 1.25" diameter billet 6061 aluminum rod, even with the drilled hole it is still equivalent in cross section to a 1.2" diameter rod (which is much thicker than the v1 tension rods). Also with the bolts installed there are no voids in the structure, so there is really no compromise in the strength.
